Wylie Karate After School Program

When other children are to old for daycare, they leave daycare.

Our students graduate with a belt rank in Karate plus leadership skills and the opportunity to continue training at advance levels of Karate.

A constructive alternative to baby-sitting, daycare, extended day at school and latch key programs. We are a certified Martial Arts School- not a daycare program. As such, we are in the talent and skill business.

This program is designed for students ages 5-12.

Who We Are

We have over 26 years of experience teaching children and specialize in teaching traditional Karate and Toide (Jujitsu). Our classes embody the true art of self-defense . Our lessons include the “hard style” block, kick, punch, as well as the “soft style” rolls, throws, falls, and grappling.

We are not a commercial school and will not put a belt on anyone who hasn’t earned it.

We Offer:

  • Free Transportation from your children’s school
  • Classes are paid from week to week with no contracts required
  • Karate classes are offered to all school age children (for adult classes, see this page)
  • Our Dojo (Martial Arts School) is opened from 7:00am-6:30pm on Teacher Days and most Break Weeks (to be listed)
  • There is no extra charge for in-service days when the kids are out of school all day. Simply pack a lunch for your child.

Concerning the Program

The reason for anyone to come to this facility is to learn life skills such as goal-setting, discipline, focus, coordination, positive attitude, respect, confidence, self-defense, health, and fitness. Parents may use this facility instead of a daycare but not as a daycare. There will be no regular early pickup from classes; only doctor, dentist, or an emergency will excuse a student from class. It goes without saying that the student must be here in order to learn. Everyone pre-pays for the upcoming week. If your child becomes ill and is only there for one or two days, their credit will be carried over to the next week.

Training improves character. We encourage our students to keep high moral values and to look out for each other. We teach perseverance, excellence, sincerity, humility, self-control, teamwork, strength of mind and body, and flexibility. Self esteem increases as the student moves up in belt rank, learning respect for oneself and others.

This truly carries over into every other are of a student’s life. Studies show that those who are more active perform better in school, work, and daily conduct. We give out special awards to honor roll students and to students who have completed our weekly list of “good habits” that range from personal hygiene and family to schoolwork.

Students must come prepared to learn each day and should bring their uniform to class. You may pick your child up between the hours of 5:00pm - 6:30pm, on your way home from work
