Our school, Hinsei Kan, got its name from the head of our martial arts association, and it means "Quality of Character Academy." We believe that we are all human beings and God's creation first, and martial artists second.
Our organization is based on Christian values, and our aim is to train individuals with strong character who will use self-defense techniques responsibly. We believe in giving back to the community and supporting each other.
We strive to understand our student's individual goals and expectations to provide them with personalized teaching techniques. Our self-defense martial arts style consists of a diverse range of techniques, including kicks, blocks, punches, elbows, knees, and throws from Aiki jujutsu, and Jiu-Jitsu, as well as weapons training. Our instructors, Kyoshi Dennis, Renshi DeeDee, Sensei Perry, and Shihan Josh, are highly skilled and have incorporated techniques from various martial arts to create a comprehensive and effective approach.
We teach a classical style, or "old way," of karate from Okinawa and maintain the traditional katas and techniques of the United Ryukyu Kempo Alliance for our students who come here specifically for self-defense.
Instinctive reactions are crucial in self-defense. Understanding the concepts and movements we teach, rather than specific techniques, allows for quick and efficient responses in any situation.
We offer specialist expertise in all areas of martial arts we teach. Our team is internationally trained and locally based, so you get the best service at your utmost convenience.
Ryukyu Kempo is a style of martial arts that focuses on traditional instruction and the life protection arts. It is a well-rounded style encompassing different studies that today are considered old-fashioned and irrelevant.
However, these practices are incredibly relevant because they elevate Ryukyu Kempo to an art and a way of life and make it an effective self-defense style.
While many other martial arts styles also state that they teach self-defense, Ryukyu Kempo is the only one to teach the grappling art known as Tuite and the nerve point techniques called Kyusho Jitsu.
Tuite, which translates to "Grab-Hand" techniques, focuses on the concept that all bodies are weak in the same ways. Everyone has nerves, joints, tendons, and muscles that respond to stress and certain types of pressure in specific ways. Ryukyu Kempo's grappling arts work to exploit these weaknesses so that students can defend themselves against attackers of all sizes.
Kyosho Jitsu, which translates to "Vital Point" techniques, is the different striking techniques of Ryukyu Kempo, which are some of the most sophisticated strikes in the style. When they are appropriately used against specific anatomical points of an individual's nervous and circulatory systems, students can temporarily disable their opponents so that they cannot retaliate.
